New Years 2018

New Years 2018

Growing up you hear adults talking about the time flying by, but you never realize how true that is until you’re an adult yourself. It seems like each year passes faster than the last. 2017 was another amazing year for RDP and for our family, and I cannot wait to see what 2018 holds for us.

I love looking back at the top nine posts from my Instagram feed over the past year. This year’s top nine didn’t disappoint.

This past year was very rewarding for RDP in so many ways. There were many “firsts” for us.

In April we attended our very first Wedding Tour. The Tallahassee Wedding Tour puts a unique spin on the traditional wedding show. Venders and venues sign up to join the tour and newly engaged couples are escorted around town visiting various venues where venders of all sorts are set up to provide information on planning that big day. It was such a joy to be apart of the 2017 Wedding Tour and we look forward to another tour in 2018!

We also had to opportunity to photograph not one, but two, amazingly beautiful beach engagement sessions and found a favorite beach location just perfect for portraits!

Another double whammy for RDP was the opportunity to photograph two graduates of Florida State University. As a lot of you know, our family bleeds garnet and gold so the opportunity to photograph in various locations around campus was a huge delight for us.

In June I was honored to be apart of one of the most joyous parts of life, a birth! Yes, you read that correctly, I photographed my very first birth this year and it was amazing! I’m not going to lie, initially I had a lot of different emotions when I was first asked to document this special moment. I was scared, intimidated, nervous, and fearful of the unknown. I prepared myself for weeks leading up to the birth and when it came “game time” I was beyond excited! I left the hospital thinking “OMG I wish someone would have told me to have my births photographed.” I fell in LOVE with birth photography and cannot thank the family enough for entrusting me to document it for them.

Due to the sensitive nature, I’m sure you can understand, I cannot share the birth pictures but please know it was such a remarkable event for RDP!

In June we photographed another beautiful wedding, but our first at the Lodge at Wakulla Springs just south of Tallahassee, Florida. Around August the bride contacted me asking for images to provide the venue as they requested pictures from her wedding to share on their social media and with couples looking at the lodge as their venue. This was such an excitement for us, to think our work not only shared on the couple’s social media but possibly the venue’s social media and being shared to other engaged couples. So thankful!

In August I had the pleasure of photographing my lifelong friend's very first pregnancy. We have been through so many life milestones together and this one was one of my top favorites. I'm still beyond excited for her new beautiful bundle of joy!

September brought RDP a new challenge, a downtown engagement session. Again, stepping out of that comfort zone was scary initially, but I’m so glad I didn’t let fear take over. We had such a fun time exploring beautiful downtown Tallahassee and photographing this couple throughout some of our city’s most beautiful areas.

RDP wrapped up 2017 with mini sessions, family sessions, and another wedding. In December we vowed to sit back, relax, and catch up with our family. It was a beautifully relaxing month, but we are thrilled to be getting back to the grind and looking forward to a fun filled 2018!

The Montgomery wedding was on a beautiful October day. The weather could not have been anymore perfect. The wedding was just outside of Tallahassee at a beautiful church with a rustic reception immediately following at Willow Pond Plantation in Monticello, Florida. It was a day full of love and laughter. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery for including us in your special day. It was perfect in every detail and we wish you many years of love and happiness!
